Although originally thought to have Parkinson's in spring 2022, my neurologist eventually changed my diagnosis to Dopamine-Responsive Dystonia, a neurological movement disorder with some similarities--as well as some differences--to Parkinson's. Fortunately, as soon as she heard Parkinson's, a good friend encouraged me to check out Melissa Carlson's excellent Parkinson's gym, pDNextSteps, where members receive specific exercises and training for neurological movement disorders. Thanks to these exercise classes and to the medications and knowledge made possible through continuous research by organizations such as the Michael J. Fox Foundation, my life and symptoms have improved dramatically.
October 8th, is the 3rd annual 5KforJK, a non-profit established to reduce fear of the unknown and empower patients to take control of their journey! A portion of the funds greatly benefit local Parkinson’s services, including pDNextSteps, and also support informational podcasts, Parkinson’s First Set Wish Kits, and Michael J. Fox Foundation for research.
